Abstract

To evaluate the mechanical strength in tension of a concrete crack repaired by epoxy injection, 30 cylindrical structural concrete specimens, 150 mm in diameter, have been built. An experimental testing apparatus for direct tension test has been developed (1) to crack the virgin specimens and (2) to determine the direct tensile resistance of the specimen repaired by epoxy injection. Several injection parameters have been considered in the experimental program to evaluate their effects on the quality of the repair. The evaluated parameters are 3 epoxy products (A, B and C) from different suppliers, 2 moisture conditions of the crack during its injection (dry and moist) and 3 different crack openings (2mm, 1mm and 0mm) and one compressive state of on the crack during its injection (200kPa).
