Abstract

In tall single-storey steel structures such as industrial buildings, sports facilities or airplane hangars,it is common practice to use a bracing configuration with multiple tiers stacked between the floor and ground levels of the structure. Such configuration is referred as multi-tier braced frame(MTBF). This system minimizes the brace dimensions including the length and cross-sectional area compared to the case where a single braced panel is used over the entire height of the structure.
