Abstract
In tall single-storey steel structures such as industrial buildings, sports facilities or airplane hangars,it is common practice to use a bracing configuration with multiple tiers stacked between the floor and ground levels of the structure. Such configuration is referred as multi-tier braced frame (MTBF). This system minimizes the brace dimensions including the length and cross-sectional area compared to the case where a single braced panel is used over the entire height of the structure.
Résumé
Pour les structures de bâtiments en acier d'un seul étage de grande hauteur comme les entrepôts, centres sportifs ou hangars d'avion, il est courant d'utiliser une configuration de contreventement composée de plusieurs treillis superposés sur la hauteur de la structure, couramment appelée contreventement concentrique en treillis à segments multiples (CCSM). Ce système permet deminimiser les dimensions des membrures diagonales (longueur et section) comparativement à un seul treillis sur toute la hauteur de l'ouvrage.
