Résumé

We have investigated, on a scale model, the efficiency of an open, prism‐shaped network of rigid strips to deflect long wavelength sounds incident normally, or at a slight angle, on the structure. Our experimental results, particularly at the low‐frequency end of the noise spectrum, are well explained by a general theory, developed for microwave lenses, modified for acoustics, and extended to a larger domain of frequencies. Finally it is suggested that this prismatic array offers some possibilities as an obstacle to redirect low‐frequency noises in directions harmless for populations.
