Résumé

Brownification is a rising concern for the drinking water plants since it impacts the efficacy of surface drinking water treatment processes and increases treatment costs. Although it is a natural process, growing climatic and anthropogenic pressures are expected to drive further browning, which complicates the protection of surface water sources. The study focuses on Greater Montreal, an important resource for water supply and a complicated hydrological region. How a change in DOC sources through their concentration and specific composition can have an impact on drinking water plants need to be investigated to achieve sustainable water management in a context of climate change while ensuring the maintenance of ecosystem services.
