Abstract
A well-documented article (40+ recent sources) examining the impact of generative AI on engineering education. It addresses three major issues: cognitive debt and its measurable effects on learning, the economic realities of a rebalancing job market, and the Generation Z paradox of widespread AI use alongside the recognition that it can encourage intellectual laziness. The article argues for rigorous learning before delegation, showing that AI accelerates those who possess strong fundamentals while slowing those who do not. Intended for undergraduate engineering students, particularly members of Generation Z.
