Abstract
Surface-assisted Ullmann coupling is a verycommon approach to carry out on-surface synthesis. Weinvestigated the deposition of the 1,3,5-tris(4-bromophenyl)-benzene molecule on a Au(111) surface at low temperatures. Weobserved a new supramolecular phase using scanning tunnelingmicroscopy, and we demonstrated that this supramolecularorganization promotes the formation of a well-defined 1D covalentnetwork through thermal annealing.
